Kind Restaurant Manager Came Outside And Fixed A Flat Tire For 96-Yr-Old Veteran

When 96-year-old Mr. Lee was on his way for his regular chicken biscuits and coffee at a Chick-Fil-A in Severn, Maryland, he noticed while driving that he had a very flat tire.

The flat tire was making it very difficult to steer for Mr. Lee, but he eventually made his way to the restaurant’s parking lot. As he slowly walked in, he told the host that he had a flat tire.

“[He] was shaking, almost in tears saying he barely made it to the store on three tires because it was so bad,” said Rudy Somoza, one of the managers.

The host told the other manager, Daryl Howard, that Mr. Lee did not have anyone to help change his tire and that the elderly gentleman didn’t know what to do. Without hesitation, Daryl came and told Mr. Lee that he would step outside to help and they together walked back to his car.

For the next fifteen minutes, Daryl helped replace the 96-year-old veteran of WWII’s flat tire with a spare. He got the spare out of his trunk, jacked the car up a bit, and was able to put the new tire on.

While he was doing this, and without his knowledge, the other manager Rudy took a few pictures of Daryl helping Mr. Lee. He later shared them online with the following message:

“His action of kindness was beautiful. Daryl has always been so helpful to anyone in need and deserves this recognition.”

Mr. Lee, who had been having a rough day, was surprised and truly grateful that Daryl had taken his own time to fix his flat tire himself.

Many online have thanked Daryl for his kindness:

“That was a wonderful act to help that elderly gentleman. We have so many wonderful people who help but wouldn’t it be nice if everybody [does] something nice for someone every day. It doesn’t take much just a smile or say how are you today have a wonderful day etc,” commented Linda F.

“Thank you! To the WWII vet for his service and sacrifices for our country. And thank you to both Chick fil A employees for caring enough to help this gentleman in need. May God continue to bless all of you!” wrote Julia F.

“They should be sharing more things that good people do for others instead of all the bad things we are seeing on the news media. Thank you for helping this gentleman,” wrote Sandra A.

“Daryl is a true gentleman. The manager and all are kind hearted people. So many good people in this world,” shared Dorlian J.
