A homeless man was laying down on the side of the street without a shirt on, and he looked hungry.
When asked if there was anything that could make his day a little bit better, he pointed to the sushi restaurant that he was sitting outside of.
“You like sushi? What kind do you like?”
“Any one,” he said.
His only request was to have some soy sauce as well.
“Just ask them to give me some soy sauce yeah?” he said.
I said I would be back in a few minutes, ordered him some takeout sushi, and while it was being made, went to pick him up a comfy new blue shirt.
After he received his sushi, he showed his gratitude by giving me a wonderful picture he had drawn.
“Hey thank you,” he said. “Here, take this from me.”
He tore out the picture he drawn from his notebook and handed it to me.
“Oh that’s awesome. Thank you so much. Hey I got you a shirt too. It’s brand new so, it’s a nice comfy shirt.”
He checked out his new shirt and later was able to wear it.
“Hey thank you so much,” he said.

Helping this young homeless man was part of our outreach at Understanding Compassion. Our goal is to both help these beautiful souls in need, and to also put more kindness into the social media feeds as an education system.
