When a woman who hadn’t flown in a while felt nervous during her flight, a kind flight attendant sat in the aisle and loving held her hand until she felt better and calm.
Molly Simonson Lee was on an Endeavor/Delta flight when she overheard a woman sitting in front of her share how she hadn’t been on a flight in a while, and how nervous she felt about flying. The flight attendant, Floyd Dean-Shannon, took notice, and came over to speak with the woman. He comforted her, explained every sound and bump that was happening during the flight, and then sat in the aisle and lovingly held her hand for around 10 minutes.
“Check out this gem of a flight attendant that was on our flight from CLT to JFK,” Molly shared in a post online. “This woman was so nervous about flying, so he explained every sound and bump and even sat here holding her hand when it still got to be too much for her. @delta , Floyd Dean-Shannon deserves a raise!”
Molly was moved by the extraordinary kindness of their flight attendant for the nervous woman.
“She may have said something to the people around her,” Molly said in an interview. “that, “I haven’t flown in a really long time, and I’m very nervous about this.” He took notice of that and said, “I’ve got you,” and just was very reassuring, and just told her not to worry, it was going to be totally safe, and she was cheering up.”
“He took notice and went over and sat in the aisle, and was holding her hand, and that went on… maybe 10 minutes, until she calmed down. It was moving… it was so beautiful, to see somebody extend their heart like that,” Molly said.
“He radiated kindness and warmth,” Molly shared. “He even said, ‘If no one else has said it to you, I love you.'”
Tens of thousands of hearts online have appreciated Floyd’s gentle heart and the kindness he showed to the nervous woman.
“That is the sweetest!!! Thanks for sharing such a great look into human kindness,” wrote Allison M.
“People like him are truly angels in disguise ❤️ If more people were this compassionate, the world would be a better place,” commented Scarlett E.
“I got to know Floyd when we volunteered together on the streets of New York feeding the homeless… so this does not surprise me at all. On many occasions Floyd would be sitting on the ground sharing a cup of soup and bread with those in need of somebody who would listen. He has a loving heart for the homeless,” wrote Ruth M.
“Stories like this remind me why I actually love people,” commented Sarah G.
