A kind young man started by mowing 50 yards for free for the elderly and veterans, and he now has his own lawn mowing business.
10-year-old Bentley, from Fremont, Ohio, accepted Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service’s 50 yard challenge when he was just 7-years-old. He went to 50 homes owned by the elderly and veterans which seemed to have overgrown lawns, knocked on each of their doors, introduced himself, and then mowed their yards, free of charge.
The 50 yard challenge was created by Rodney Smith Jr, and it challenges children and teens all over the country to mow 50 lawns for people in need. They join by posting a photo online of themselves holding a sign which reads “I accept the 50 yard challenge,” and then they get to work. They receive T-shirts along their journey, and once they mow 50 yards, Rodney sends them a brand new lawnmower to reward them for their good deeds.
“So let’s say you had a kid in New York that accepted the challenge, all they would need to do is make a sign saying, ‘I accept the 50 Yard Challenge,’ and in return, we send them a white Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service T-shirt, along with shades and ear protection. Once they mow 10 lawns, they get an orange shirt, 20 a green, 30 a blue, 40 a red and 50 a black. And once they reach 50, we fly to them, we do lawns with them and we also give them brand new lawnmowers,” Rodney explained.
Bentley had a wonderful time completing the 50 yard challenge.
“Bentley from Fremont, OH, who is taking part in our 50 yard challenge has been a busy guy! Look at him mow! Great job. Thanks for mowing this veteran’s lawn! Please thank him for his service for us Bentley,” Rodney shared.
Bentley sent Rodney an update on how he is doing: he now runs his own lawn care business which has 4 lawnmowers, and he still mows lawns for free for those in need.
“Today, I received an update about Bentley from Fremont, OH, who conquered our 50 yard challenge,” Rodney shared. “He’s since launched his own lawn care venture named “Lil B’s Mowing,” which is thriving. Currently, he boasts an arsenal of 4 push mowers, 4 weed eaters, and 2 riding mowers. With a substantial roster of clients, he continues to generously offer free lawn services to those in need. Bentley, we’re immensely proud of your accomplishments!”
Keep up the good work Bentley!
You are Loved.
