Kind 8-Yr-Old Asks Mom To Stop Car So He Can Help An Elderly Woman Up The Stairs

When 8-year-old Maurice Adams Jr. noticed an elderly woman struggling to make it up a flight of stairs, he made sure that he was there to help her.

Maurice was leaving his sister’s high school graduation with her and his mom in the car, when he saw a struggling elderly woman with a walker while looking out the window. He asked his mother, Contricia, if she could stop the car so that he could go out and help the woman.

“He asked, ‘Can I go out there and help her up the steps?'” Contricia said.

Riley Duncan was in the car behind them, and once he saw the reason the car in front of him had stopped, his heart was deeply appreciative. He then took a video of the kind young boy who had hopped out of his car to help an older stranger.

Maurice ran up to the woman and asked her if he could help, and she happily agreed. He put his hand on her back to help keep her steady, and he helped lift her walker up each step.

After they both made it to the top of the concrete stairs, they shared a hug, and both the elderly woman and Maurice could be seen smiling. She then told Maurice that he is “special.”

Maurice ran back down the steps and hopped back into his mother’s car and they drove away.

Contricia was proud of her son for taking the initiative to help a struggling older woman in need.

“It’s touching. It’s very touching,” she later said.

Riley, who was grateful to have witnessed the act of kindness, shared his video of an unknown boy helping an older woman online and wrote:

“Thank God for our youth.”
