Kind Mother And Step-Mother Both Walk Her To School, Making Her Happiness The Priority

0

“Often times I have people ask me how my ex, his wife, my husband and I co-parent so flawlessly. My answer is always the same– We just love our daughter.?

Seriously, it’s just that simple.

We all love her, and nothing will ever change that.

No child deserves to be tossed around back and forth, used as a bargaining chip, or to be put in the middle of any adult drama. She didn’t choose to be born, and she certainly never chose for her parents to get divorced.

Why would we make her life harder by making her choose which set of parents to love?

My daughter calls her bonus mommy ‘Mommy’.. and you know what? That’s okay, because that’s what she is to her, she IS her mommy. She is there for her always, she takes care of her, she plays with her, she teaches her life lessons and how she should behave, she gives her hugs and kisses goodnight, she does everything any mother would do.. But most of all she loves her like she is her own. It takes a very special woman to take a child that they didn’t give birth to, under their wing and become their mother.

I see so many women say ‘I would never let my child call another woman mom or mommy, because she’s NOT her mom, I AM!’

Well you know what? If you are lucky enough for your ex to have a woman who loves YOUR child or children like their own, and one who helps raise them and shape them, why would you not allow them to call a woman they love mommy? Why would you put your child in the position to feel like they have to choose who they love?

I would never tell my daughter she can’t call her bonus mommy ‘mommy’ because it would hurt her deeply. She is her mommy not only when she spends time with her dad, but all the time.

Sometimes you just have to put the petty little things aside, to raise your child to be the amazing human being they are meant to be.

My daughter isn’t the only one who loves her bonus mommy, I love her too. She’s become one of my best friends and I rely on her for many things. She is one of the strongest people I know, and I am thankful for her everyday.

Don’t tell me that peaceful co-parenting isn’t possible, because it is.
I know it is. Because I do it everyday.

It takes a village to raise a child, and I am beyond thankful for my village!

Are you?

When a homeless man was in tears, 6-year-old Janiyah Lewis came to him and shared a conversation and a few of her own dollars so that he could get something to eat.

The kind young girl asked her mom if she could go talk to him, to her mother’s surprise, and she agreed. Janiyah’s mother, Kenyatta Lewis, was deeply moved by what took place.

“After leaving out of the store today my daughter did something that really made me stop and think,”Kenyatta shared in a post online. “There was this guy sitting there crying and she asks me “did you see that man crying? What’s wrong with him?” I said yes but I’m not sure, maybe he’s just sad… She said, “Maybe he’s hot and thirsty.” She walked over to him and goes, “Hi sir, be happy, it’s a nice day, it’s not raining. Are you hot? Why don’t you go home, the ground is dirty?”‘

The homeless man explained that he had no home, and he tried to comfort the young girl telling her that he will be okay.

“He says I have no home but I will be ok. She looked at him with the saddest face and goes “so that means you’re homeless. So you have no food because you have no refrigerator.” She gave him a few dollars out of her purse and her drink and said, “Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald’s you should go there.”‘

Janiyah’s mother could see that her daughter had helped to lift the spirits of the homeless man.

“I could tell she made his day. On top of that two more people came up and gave money as well. We had a small conversation and he explained his trailer burnt down and he lost everything including his wife.”

Kenyatta was proud of her daughter’s pure and kind heart.

“I felt for him. It just warms my heart. A 6-year-old lead by example this morning. AWESOME! Kids see no color and that’s exactly how it should be. It’s not just a statement saying that the children are our future, it’s a FACT. That gives me a little more hope for the world.”

When Christian McPhilamy was six years old, he was inspired by a TV commercial on providing hair pieces to children with cancer done by St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

“Mommy, what’s that?” Christian asked his Mom. “That’s where you donate your hair to kids with cancer… to make wigs from your hair,” his Mom Deeanna Thomas replied. “I want to do that,” Christian said.

Along the way, Christian had to deal with some of the difficulties a young boy with long hair has, as his mother wrote:

“I just have to say that while Christian did receive some bullying and was called a girl A LOT, that is not what his story was supposed to be about. It’s supposed to be about what he did and the kindness and love for others that children have. My son never asked for recognition for what he was doing, he simply ‘wanted to give a wig away and help another child,’ in his own words.”

“His friends and teachers knew what he was doing and they supported him.”

After two and a half years, Christian cut his hair and was able to donate four 11-inch ponytails to Children With Hairloss.

Christian McPhilamy is an amazing example of the pure love of a child’s heart; that he would spend over two years of his early life in an effort to help other children who were suffering, and to selflessly do it even while enduring some teasing. His compassion and purity of heart has inspired tens of thousands of people around the world, and also ensured that several children with cancer will be able to have wigs to wear.

Having fundraised for a much smaller amount for Charlie in the past, his parents planned to try again in hopes of raising part of the funds needed to keep their baby boy alive.

“We thought we were going to have to fight tooth and nail like last time to get the funds together,” said Charlie’s father Rob Fearns.

Shortly after receiving the overwhelming news of Charlie’s next needed treatment, a very kind and generous stranger reached out to them via email.

“We received an email asking us if we would accept the a gift of an anonymous donor who wants to pay for the full amount of Charlie’s treatment,” she said.

“He or she specifically asked to pay for Charlie,” his parents said.

The relief and gratitude felt by Charlie’s parents was almost too much to be put into words.

“We are completely overwhelmed because this is not something we thought anyone would be able to do. We don’t know who this donor is but from the bottom of our hearts it means an incredible amount – not just from the foundation but for everybody that supports Charlie.”

The anonymous donor not only was able to provide for this lovely boy Charlie, but he or she also was also able to inspire the world with this selfless act of charity.

Kind Student Raised Over $1,000 For Homeless Man Just Before Christmas

Boston University student Blake Smith was tasked with a project for his communications class; to convince people to think about something differently. He immediately thought of a local homeless man named Freddy. Freddy is known for “always sending good vibes” to people who walk by him, said Blake, who passes by Freddy everyday on his way to class. Within a short time, Blake and Freddy became friends.

“A lot of people just kind of ignore homeless people or think they’re lazy and that’s why they’re in that position,” Blake said. “But Freddy sits out in the cold at 30 degrees… that’s not someone who’s lazy. That’s someone who walks all the way from Boston hospital, because there’s a shelter there that he’s at, and he walks all the way to Kenmore just to get a couple of dollars every day for food.”

Blake was able to make a short video telling the story of a young wealthy man who passes by Freddy on the street, then throws out some of his food. He goes home to a fridge and cabinets full of food, but cannot find what he wants to eat, so he orders some take-out from a restaurant. When he picks up the food, he sees Freddy again, and has a change of heart. He decides to share his meal with Freddy, and they sit down and enjoy it together.

“I didn’t want to just make a video to get a good grade, I was kind of sick of doing projects that way. I wanted to do something that could help someone outside of class,” said Blake.

“I learned from this video to be grateful for what you have. Maybe you don’t need the new iPhone, but you could help somebody else. Take the time to stop and talk to somebody, see how their position is in life.”

After getting to know Freddy, Blake decided to setup a GoFundMe page to try and raise some money for Freddy as a holiday gift. Within a few weeks, Blake was able to raise over $1,000 and gifted it to Freddy before Christmas.

“He gave me a huge hug and was really happy for everything. He was overjoyed, and he told me that he was going to go get a room and get out (of) the cold and try to get a place to stay for a little while.” said Blake.

Blake hopes to continue helping Freddy and other homeless people in his community.

By taking just a little bit of time to make a difference in the life of someone who was struggling each day in the cold, Blake was able to show Freddy how loved he is, and with the help of the community, to provide a warm place to sleep for the holidays.
