Struggling Americans in Puerto Rico have been desperately needing help after Hurricane Maria, and the love of many kind union workers was there to answer them.

The AFL-CIO helped organize people from different unions across the states, asking them if they could spend a few days and come to help with relief efforts. Workers from more than 20 unions joined forces and boarded a flight to San Juan to help people seeking medical and humanitarian assistance. Many of these kind individuals said that within ten seconds of being asked, they responded with a heartfelt, “I’m going.”

When asked why he is going to Puerto Rico, one volunteer said, “To help out in whatever way we can.”

“I put out the call for help, and who listened? The unions,” said Carmen Yulín Cruz, the mayor of San Juan, the Puerto Rican capital.

Many residents in Puerto Rico are still without shelter, without drinking water, without food.

These kind union workers are great examples of what it means to have a compassionate heart. When seeing the great suffering of thousands of people in Puerto Rico, they did not hesitate to offer their love and their support.

Kind Barber Gave A Haircut On The Floor To Help A Child With Autism

Since being diagnosed with Autism at 2 years old, it’s been difficult for young Wyatt to get his hair cut due to his hypersensitivity to sound and touch. One Canadian barber decided to make a difference by letting this sweet child take the lead for how the haircut goes, and his mother felt inspired to share the experience.

“He doesn’t like his hair to be touched and a lot of sounds are aggressive for him,” Wyatt’s mother Fauve Lafreniere explained. “I was nervous the first time,” she said of when she first went to Franz Jakob’s barbershop two years ago, “But now, I just feel blessed that we have Mr. Jakob in our life, in every way.”

Franz owns a barbershop in the Canadian town of Rouyn-Noranda, and he wrote this in response to the international fame he has received since Wyatt’s mother shared his photo online:

“I opened here because there were no other barbershops, only hair salons, which is something completely different. Wyatt showed up with his mother during the first week I was open. He was my first child who had special needs. I figured out how to work with him by getting down to his level. These moments are very special for me. I’m taking great pride barbering here and my community is amazingly supportive towards my shop. People drive up to 4 hours to get a haircut. We usually start by having a candy together and we walk around the shop looking at everything on the walls. The shop is packed with gifts from clients. We can also put some music on vinyl during the haircut. I’m never typically driving the haircut, I simply follow the lead of the child. It takes me more than an hour to finish with a special needs child. It is worth every minute.”

Franz cuts the hair for many children with disabilities and also for some terminally ill patients, whom he doesn’t charge. He usually schedules them at the end of his day so that he can, “take all the time I need,” he explained.

“It’s an honor for me to do all of this.” Franz said.

“Anyone can make a difference with an open mind and love,” Wyatt’s mother said of the experience.

A Kind Person Found His Wallet On The Highway And Then Paid To Have It Mailed Back To Him

0

Losing things is never fun, especially when it’s a wallet full of money, credit cards and ID’s.

Beau Collins was checking his mail when he found that a kind person had not only found his wallet, but had returned it intact, and they even paid the postage!

“I have been missing my wallet for the last few weeks but just assumed my daughter had hidden it in the house and it would turn up eventually,” Beau shared in a post online. “Today I received a package in the post and inside was my wallet with everything still in it.”

A kind person had found Beau’s wallet on the highway and mailed it to him with everything in it, and also with a note.

“Inside was also a note explaining it was found in the highway but there was no name. I know it’s a very small chance but if everyone could share this post and see if the person who sent it back to me will see and contact me as I would love to say thank you. It’s great to see there are still honest and decent people in the world.”

The note reads:

“Hello Beau, Found your wallet on the freeway. Sending back to you how I found it. Sorry you lost it. Take care, God Bless.”

The sender did not leave their name or a return address, but Beau was hoping to find them so he can thank them personally for their act of kindness.

Whoever the person is, their kindness has inspired thousands of people around the world.

Here Are Several Acts Of Kindness That May Help You Appreciate The Rain

1

Random acts of kindness happen all around us each and every day. Whether we are doing them personally, or seeing them happen from afar, their resonance leaves a beautiful touch of love in our hearts, and often stays there for years to come.

While a woman in a wheelchair was struggling to stay dry and get to her destination, one kind gentleman used his umbrella to shelter her from the rain.

In another area, a man decided to spend his afternoon helping people get to their cars during a storm, as Deepak Saini wrote on social media after capturing the act of kindness,

“I was about to leave the Kenner, LA Target when I noticed a major downpour outside. There were quite a few people waiting out the storm. Then I noticed a kind gentleman who turn by turn, escorted women, mothers and their kids, to their cars under the shelter of his umbrella. I’m sure he was busy and had his own family to return to. But in that moment, it didn’t matter that he was black and the woman in this picture was white. It was one human helping another. Right now we seem so focused on race and are letting ourselves be painfully divided. Kindness is something we all need to give to each other right now and let this man be an example.”

At one restaurant, three older women were not able to get to their vehicles during a heavy downpour, until one man decided to grab a large table umbrella and walk them to their cars himself.

This older man needed some help getting to his car during a storm, so this kind employee decided to grab a table umbrella and help him.

Keep on helping others get through their storms. Both of your rainbows are waiting on the other side.

He Stopped Running To Catch His Train To Help An Older Woman With Her Bags

1

While most often we see people running to catch their trains and jumping onboard before the doors close in a subway, one person witnessed a beautiful act of kindness.

This man, who had previously been running to catch his train, passed by an older woman who was struggling to make it down some stairs with her bags. Instead of passing her by, he stopped running, and asked her if he could help her, and she gratefully agreed.

It’s important during our busy daily lives to stop for a second and to remember the teaching of the Good Samaritan; to love and care for our neighbors. Random acts of kindness stay in our memories and in our hearts, and often times are the most beautiful parts of our day.

Moments of compassion often bring us to a stop, and for a moment, we rise above ourselves.

Let this kind man’s gentle act of caring for an elderly woman inspire you to share some love and kindness with a person you encounter this week.
