Dave Grohl is spending his free time between concerts volunteering to help feed the homeless.
Dave Grohl, who was the drummer of the band Nirvana and is the current singer and guitarist of the band Foo Fighters, showed up around midnight at Hope The Mission in Los Angeles and spent the next 18 hours barbecuing meals for the homeless.

Dave paid for the ribs, pork, brisket, cabbage, coleslaw and beans, and even brought a huge meat smoker on a trailer to cook the meat in.

After everything was cooked and prepared, he stayed to hand the meals out to and talk with the homeless.
“We’ve been trying to figure out ways to keep up with our activations and continue to put out 3,500 meals a month. It’s not an easy task, especially when several communities experiencing food insecurity rely on us for a decent meal five times a week. On one of those wet and cold rainy days we received a text from none other than Dave Grohl. He said he heard about what we were doing and wanted to help out. We threw him into an upcoming activation. He spent 18 hours straight smoking brisket, ribs and pork—with a cooking crew. They stayed up all night and into the sunrise. The next day Dave and his team, exhausted and sleep deprived—packed up the food and drove it to MacArthur Park. All they had to do was drop it off and leave, however they decided to stay and work the line—serve the BBQ with our crew until everyone at the park was fed. If that ain’t a hero we don’t know what is,” feedthestreets_la shared in a post online.
Dave has made it a habit to do what he can to help the homeless. He recently also stopped by a street kitchen charity for the homeless in Australia and spent several hours volunteering and serving food at Melbourne’s Federation Square location.

And rather than watching the football game, Dave spent Super Bowl Sunday barbecuing for another homeless shelter in L.A.
“Happy Super Bowl Sunday from @davestruestories and Hope the Mission! Dave and his pals BBQ’d 70 pork butts for 24+ hours ? Right now we are here at The Woodlands Family Shelter sharing this delicious meal with our participants. Thank you to Dave and his friends from his studio for hanging out with us and spreading love through a hot meal. #foofighters turned into #foodfighters ?” shared hopeofthevalley.

It’s wonderful to see celebrities doing what they can to help those in need.
A kind young man is making sure his homeless neighbors have all of the daily essentials they need.
Ethan Hill is a young man from Birmingham, Alabama, and he’s been helping the homeless since he was six years old, after he saw a homeless person living under a bridge. His walk to school went past this bridge, and it bothered him seeing a grown man suffering, sleeping out in the cold. That year Ethan used his $100 Christmas money to buy food, snacks, water, tarps and toiletries to give to that homeless man he walked past each day under the bridge.

“Every day I was passing by this homeless gentleman on my way to school, and he lived right under the freeway. It didn’t sit right with me, so that year I used my $100 Christmas money and I bought supplies for him and others with him at the time,” Ethan said.

“He was really happy, but, he was humble. He was like, I don’t need this stuff right here, you can take it, and he led us in the direction of other homeless people who were in need.”
“He was so kind,” Ethan said of the homeless man, Mr. Marcus, as he looked past his own needs in order to help those around him.
Ever since that experience, Ethan has been motivated to do what he can to help the homeless. Ethan created a non-profit called Ethan’s Heart Bags 4 Blessings, which provides care packages and daily essentials for the homeless. In the past seven years, he has given out more than 5000 Ethan’s Heart packages.
“Ethan’s Heart has evolved into an organization that goes above and beyond to support those experiencing homelessness. Our dedicated team provides emergency food, drinks, clothing, sleeping bags, first aid supplies, and hygiene products, addressing the immediate needs of individuals while fostering trust and building rapport. Through these meaningful interactions, Ethan’s Heart strives to identify veterans, individuals with mental health challenges, and those at risk of or experiencing abuse, connecting them with relevant service referrals,” ethansheartbham.org explains.
Ethan even built a mobile trailer that attaches to a truck and can be driven around town to help the homeless. Inside of the trailer are multiple shelves stocked with food, sleeping bags, toiletries and various donations for the homeless from kind hearts in his community.
When a kind woman saw a homeless man asking for spare change, she sat down with him, shared her lunch and spoke with him like a friend.
Darrin Hand was walking in downtown Oklahoma City on a work break when he noticed a homeless person sitting on the side of the street asking for spare change.
“Today on the streets of downtown OKC, I passed a man simply asking for change as he held out an empty shoe polish canister,” Darrin N Tory Hand shared in a post online.
A few minutes later when walking back to his office, Darrin noticed a business woman walk up to the homeless man, give him half of her chicken wrap, and enjoy lunch together with him like a friend.
“On my return trip to the office, I found him and this woman sitting together. She sat down, cut her chicken wrap in half, and shared it with him. She did not leave, she sat and talked and asked genuine questions that many of us would ask while out to lunch with a friend.”

Darrin appreciated that the woman took her time to not only help the homeless man, but to love him and treat him like a human being.
“She did not treat him like a person to help, but a person to love…” Darrin said.
When a kind elementary school bus driver noticed one of his usually cheerful passengers in tears, he went out of his way to help the young boy with his situation.
Larry Farrish Jr., an elementary school bus driver in Jefferson County, Kentucky, was on his route picking up children for school when he noticed a little boy, Levi, crying at his stop with his jacket over his head.
“Normally when I pull up, he’s standing there waiting for me with a big smile, but on this day, he was sitting on the ground with a jacket over his head,” Larry said. “I asked him, ‘Hey buddy, what’s going on? What’s wrong?’”
7-year-old Levi, who had a “face full of tears” told Mr. Farrish that he didn’t have any pajamas, so he couldn’t participate in the school’s Pajama Day.
“I thought, ‘I gotta fix this,” Larry told TODAY. “It hurt me so bad. That just wasn’t my Levi, and I wanted him to have a good day. No child should have to miss out on something as small as pajama day.”
Once Larry finished making his rounds, he stopped by a local Family Dollar store and purchased a few pairs of pajamas in various sizes, then he brought them to the school’s office and asked them to get them to Levi for the school’s pajama day. Levi was overjoyed.

“I can tell Mr. Larry is nice and his heart is filled with joy,” 7-year-old Levi said. “I’m usually really happy, but not on pajama day…When he got me the pajamas, I did a happy cry.”
“It really turned the whole Friday around, for him and for me,” Larry shared.

“DRIVING JOY! When JCPS Bus Driver Larry Farrish Jr. noticed one of his typically upbeat Engelhard Elementary School students was feeling down, he learned the first grader was upset because he didn’t have pajamas for “pajama day” at school. Farrish took matters into his own hands and got brand new pajamas to the school in time to turn the student’s bad day around!” Jefferson County Public Schools shared in a post online.
Larry has been a school bus driver for seven years, and previously he worked as a corrections officer and a truck driver. He shared how being able to help children has been very fulfilling to him.
“They become my kids after they leave their parents. I make sure they get to and from school safe, but I also try to bring some type of joy to their lives,” he said.
Thousands of hearts online have appreciated Larry’s kindness.
“Mr Larry is the absolute best. We were blessed with him as our bus driver for 4 years. Top notch human,” commented Maggie W.
“One of God’s angels watching over his children. Thank you Mr. Larry,” wrote Tony A.
“I love hearing such a heartwarming story!! Especially in a time when all we typically hear is bad news about things happening in our community!! There are a lot of good people out there doing great things everyday, and I personally would enjoying hearing more of these positive stories!! Thank you Mr. Farris for your kindness and generosity!! I’m sure you have made such a positive impact in not only this young boy’s life, but in the lives of all the children you work with daily,” wrote Kelly C.
