Loving College Student Moved Paralyzed Dad To His Dorm Room So He Could Take Care Of Him

0

Guo Shijun is not your average college student. The 20 year old had a tough childhood, as his mother was left mentally disabled when he was young after battling a disease. His father and him took care of his mother, and Guo managed to keep good grades while also caring for his mother.

His life as a caretaker became even more difficult as his father fell from a bridge while working. Thankfully he survived, but he was left paralyzed from the waist down.

Guo’s grandparents were able to assume care duties for his mother, but at their age they were not able to properly care for his disabled father as well.

Without knowing what to do, and without the time to get to his classes as well as checkup on his father, Guo decided the best way to care for his dad and pass his classes was to move his father into his dorm room.

He begged his university to let his father stay in his dorm room, which is not a normal occurrence, and his requests were initially met with resistance, but eventually the school agreed to let his father stay there.

Guo has been able to borrow money from friends and relatives to pay for his college tuition and their food, and because of his academic performance was given a small scholarship to help with his other expenses.

It’s remarkable how one young man given such difficult circumstances in life can not only take care of both of his parents, but also can manage to excel in school and even attain a scholarship.

If there ever was a trophy for being an amazing son, then Guo Shijun no doubt deserves the biggest one available. His compassionate heart to care for his family shows us what it truly means to care for one’s family.

“I can’t say life is easy but the only way out of the problem is through hard work so I’m not complaining,” Guo said.

“I think once I graduate things will get much better.”

A few kind hearts started a GoFundMe for Guo, and raised more than $500 for the hardworking student. While it won’t cover all of his expenses, he surely appreciates it.

Take care of your parents, just as they took care of you.

In San Francisco, Buses Are Being Turned Into Showers To Help The Homeless

1

Most everyone will agree that a warm shower is one of life’s great enjoyments, but not everyone is able to have a shower each day. Over 600,000 people in the United States of America are homeless, and finding a way to get warm, clean and to keep their dignity is difficult to say the least.

But now a non-profit in San Francisco called Lava Mae is leading the way to showing compassion to our homeless brothers and sisters by converting public buses into showers and bathrooms for the homeless.

If you’ve ever been to downtown San Francisco, then you have most likely seen the high amounts of homeless living on the streets there. While shopping or walking to the many delicious San Fran restaurants, there is often an elderly homeless grandmother digging through the trashcan next to you, and eating the parts of a hamburger that a person threw away earlier that day. As heartbreaking as it is to watch, imagine how much more difficult it is to live that way.

What began with an idea; that dignity and hygiene are inextricably linked, and that homeless people deserve both, led Lava Mae founder Doniece Sandoval to start one of the most influential American movements to help the homeless.

The group Lava Mae, which is Spanish for “wash me,” currently is able to provide over 200 showers to the homeless each week. Lava Mae has received generous donations from Google to further the cause, currently upwards of $800,000, and Sandoval has been putting it to wonderful use to help the poor.

The compassionate group recently expanded their newest idea; “pop-up care villages,” which are like small festivals for the homeless to come to. In a village, numerous volunteers come to offer free haircuts, food, dental appointments, and they can even shop at a “street store” where they are allowed to take up to 10 donated items.

Housing and employment specialists are also available, and the atmosphere is one of love, care and acceptance.

Several other charities have donated over $1 million to Lava Mae’s cause, and founder Sandoval has decided to use these funds to invest in the over 1200 compassionate groups around the nation who have expressed that they too want to start a Lava Mae bus system in their city.

It’s amazing how one person’s kind and beautiful heart, one who has a desire of love to help the poor, can inspire thousands to take up her cause and to inspire large companies to fund it. Never doubt what your compassionate heart moves you towards when it is to help others, for it is not only your calling, but it can also inspire your community around you to to help and have a huge ripple effect of kindness.

One grateful homeless man described his experience after his first shower in the Lava Mae bus, “It was clean, it was quiet, I was not bothered… it was personal, I had enough time, people were courteous, they were kind, and I feel brand new.”

“Always help someone, you might be the only one who does.”

His Wife Took This Photo And Then Wrote This Viral Message Explaining The Definition Of A Loving Relationship

1

True love in a relationship can often have many meanings, and the things we learn about couples from television and movies aren’t necessarily what count as love in a real relationship.

While grocery shopping with a full basket and in the checkout line, Amy Betters-Midtvedt realized she had forgotten her wallet, an easy situation to feel stressed in. But an act of love by Amy’s husband that day lifted her spirits and inspired her to write the following:

“Listen up young ones: This is what your knight in shining armor looks like when you are in your 40s.

Yes, that’s my amazing husband who is arriving on the scene with his credit card because what you can’t see is me, standing next to a cart super full of groceries that I couldn’t pay for because I couldn’t find my wallet.

Not sure you can tell, but he’s smiling at me. Yup…he had to leave work and he is smiling. His only words of admonishment were, ‘You’re not supposed to be grocery shopping; I said I’d go this week.’

Seriously.

Young people, this is what love looks like when you’re old and it’s ridiculous how awesome it is.

Love also looks like me coming downstairs to a full pot of coffee every morning because coffee is love.

Love looks like all the lunches being made already so I can enjoy that aforementioned cup of coffee.

Love looks like someone washing the dishes while his wife catches up on ‘This is Us’, while plopped on the couch not helping at all.

Love looks like a super patient dad doing the 5 year old’s homework with him every morning so I can get to work on time.

Love looks like running to the store before bedtime after your wife has forgotten to buy milk; because you know the morning will be easier if we can serve up some cereal.

And you guys, there were signs it would be this way! So, I have tips for you:

In college, this love looked like boyfriend ‘Todd’ running to the store for a danish I was craving, or watching me and my friends on the dance floor long after he wanted to leave the bar, or him being known across campus by the flower backpack he was carrying—which of course, was mine.

Young people, listen:

Do not be fooled by big, showy promposals and giant cards with candy bars glued to them with some cute saying or by your name spelled in pepperoni by a boy who’s asking you to homecoming.

That isn’t the stuff that lasts and let’s be honest…moms are totally helping them with those things.

Watch how he treats you when Instagram isn’t looking.

That is where the signs are.

Choose the man who will carry your too heavy flowered backpack in public because he will also be the man who bails you out at ALDI’s when you’re 40-? with a smile and a hug.

And that my friends is true love.”

The next time you get the opportunity to help a loved one who is having a stressful day, remember how important you are to them, and how much your love and support can help put them back into the flow of having a good day.

Kind Man Dresses Up As Santa Each Year And Hands Out Stuffed Animals To Children In The Hospital

0

Erica Chellew was out shopping when she encountered a man in the line who had his cart filled with stuffed animals. Curious, she asked him why he was buying so many.

“I was at Walmart tonight and I saw this man with a cart full of stuffed animals. When I asked him why, my heart became full.”

Erica learned that each year, the man in line dresses up as Santa Claus, and then visits a children’s hospital and gives each child one of the stuffed animals.

“He told me that every year he dresses up as Santa and walks the halls of the children’s ER and delivers one to each child. This man deserves to be recognized.”

Thousands of hearts have appreciated the man’s kindness for struggling children.

“This is beautiful. Thank you kind sir. The amount of children who don’t have toys… and you come and brighten up their day. Much love for this man,” commented Jodie E.

“Brought tears to my eyes. This act of kindness will stay with that child, the parents and staff forever. What a beautiful ripple effect this will cause. God bless you!” wrote Dana.

“There are angels everywhere but we don’t see them, they’re here to help people in distress and make them happy,” wrote Juana R.

“7 years ago my middle son spent his first Christmas Eve in the emergency department and was admitted to the hospital. I was so heartbroken for my sick baby, to be missing Christmas with the rest of my family, and so full of worry and anxiety for my child. Christmas morning as I sat next to my child’s hospital crib, in walks Santa with three gifts. I told him to give them to another child since a baby would never know the difference. He told me every child receives a gift no matter their age. You all have no idea how much that lifted ME up. Thank you sir, you are a good person and spreading so much love,” shared Cassie V.

Add White Vinegar To Your Laundry For These Unexpected Benefits (I Never Knew This!)

0

Distilled white vinegar is a common kitchen ingredient that can be found in just about any kitchen in every home. While it is usually used for cooking, there are a variety of beneficial uses.

Laundry Detergent

One of the best and less known uses of white vinegar is that of a cleaner. It’s biodegradable, cheap and an eco-friendly laundry detergent that is quite effective.

Fabric Softener

We all love the warm and cozy feeling of new soft clothes and towels, but often that feeling is gone after the first wash.

To keep that feeling, add 1/8-1/4 cup of white vinegar to your rinse dispenser, and your clothes and towels will become soft and cozy again, just like when you first bought them. The vinegar also helps to prevent cling!

Sanitize Your Clothes

White vinegar is also useful as a disinfectant. It eliminates the bacteria and germs that are often found on clothes. Simply add 1/8-1/4 of a cup of vinegar to your laundry instead of bleach.

Prevent Color-Bleed

You can prolong and preserve the color of your clothes by adding vinegar to the beginning of your washing cycle, which helps to protect against color-bleed.

Soaking clothes overnight in a mixture of water, soap and a little vinegar can also be an effective way to clean them.

Whitening Whites

White clothes are difficult to maintain, as wear and tear causes them to become dirtier over time.

To prevent this, add 1/4-1/8 cup of vinegar to your wash each time you do the whites. If you’re looking to get them as clean looking as possible with no stains, then soak whites overnight in a mixture of water, detergent, and ¼ cup vinegar before you wash them.

Remove Odors From Sports Clothes

If you’re an athlete and/or like to workout, sometimes unpleasant odors can remain in your clothes. Laundry detergent doesn’t always remove the smell based on the type of material of the gear, but distilled white vinegar can help.

Add 1/4-1/8 cup of vinegar to your washing machine to remove the odor, and you can also soak the gear in a mixture of water, detergent and vinegar to really get the smells out.

Stain Remover

Spray white vinegar on recent stains and let it soak for a couple of minutes. After put the clothes into the regular wash cycle and watch as the stains are gone after you next look for them!

For stains that have been there for a while, add a bit more vinegar to the affected areas and use a cloth to rub it in. After the stains have lightened a bit, then put the clothes into the wash.

Clean Your Laundry Machine

It’s a good idea to clean your laundry machine at least once a month. This helps to disinfect and remove any bacteria in the interior of the washing machine, and can also remove hard water deposits as well as detergent residue. If you’re in a humid climate, this will also help remove and prevent mold from forming.

Add a mixture of 1 cup vinegar into an empty wash cycle, then run it.
